How We Hire
Our hiring process might take a bit longer than others, but there's a good reason for that. We're really proud of the team we've built at Valant, and we’ve set the bar high for future team members. We want to make sure it’s the right fit for both you and us in the long run.
Trust us ...it's worth the wait!
Hiring Process
-
Step 1: Apply
Submit your application through our careers site. If there's a fit, you'll hear from us within 2 weeks.
-
Step 2: Phone Screen with HR (30 min)
A conversation with our HR team. We'll walk you through the role, share a bit about who we are and what we value, and learn about your background and skills
-
Step 3: Skills Assessment
Depending on the role, you may complete a Criteria assessment and/or a role-specific skills exercise. We'll tell you upfront what to expect, how long it takes, and what we're evaluating. There are resources if you need extra help here.
-
Step 4: Hiring Manager Interview
A deeper conversation with the person you'd be reporting to. Expect to talk through your experience, how you work, and what you'd be taking on in the role. This is also your chance to ask the hard questions.
-
Step 5: Panel or Team Interview
You'll meet a few of the people you'd be working with directly. This is as much about fit as it is about skills: we want you to get a real feel for the team.
-
Step 6: Final Leadership Interview
Depending on the role, a final conversation with senior leadership.
-
Step 7: Offer
When we're ready to move, we move. We'll make an offer and walk you through everything clearly. We do check references, so please be ready to give us 2-3 professional references.
Other Tips
Interviews should go both ways. We'll be evaluating whether you're a fit for us: but you should be doing the same. Come with questions. Be honest about what you know and don't know. That's exactly what we're looking for.

For some roles, we use a Criteria assessment as part of our process. It helps us understand how you think and work, and gives us a fuller picture beyond the resume. We'll let you know before you take it what to expect and how it fits into the overall process.
-
We share our core values (Curiosity, Respect, External Focus, Adaptability, and Teamwork) in our very first conversation with you. We ask about them because they genuinely shape how we work: and we want to make sure they resonate with you before either of us goes further.

Someone who cares about the work, asks good questions, and is honest about what they know and don't know. Behavioral health experience is a plus and something we genuinely value: if you've worked in or around a clinical setting, that context matters here.
